Almost every comparison of Indian matrimonial sites is written either by a content farm that has used none of them, or by one of the platforms ranking itself first. This one is written by us, about our own product, which means you should read it sceptically. So we have put the part where we lose first.
Where the established platforms are clearly better
Which one has the most profiles?
Not us, and it is not close. Shaadi.com, BharatMatrimony and Jeevansathi have each been running for more than two decades and operate at a scale ShaadiPakki will not approach for a long time. If sheer volume of profiles in your community is what matters most to you, one of them is the better choice today, and you should use it.
Which one has the longest track record?
Again not us. Matrimony.com, which runs BharatMatrimony, is a publicly listed company on the NSE and BSE. Jeevansathi is part of Info Edge, also listed. Shaadi.com has been operating since the late 1990s. ShaadiPakki is new. A listed parent company means audited accounts and a regulator; that is a real form of accountability and we do not have an equivalent.
Which one can you reach on the phone?
They can. All three run call centres, and BharatMatrimony additionally operates physical retail branches in many Indian cities where you can walk in and speak to someone. ShaadiPakki is currently email support only. For families who want a person to talk to, that is a genuine disadvantage and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Where ShaadiPakki works differently
Each of these is something you can verify in the product rather than take on trust.
Photos are not public here
Profile photos on ShaadiPakki are never served to anyone who is not signed in. They respect the visibility setting the owner chooses, they are hidden from anyone that member has blocked, and they start blurred — clearing in stages as interest becomes mutual rather than being on display from the first view.
Check this yourself on any matrimonial site you are considering: open a profile photo in a private browsing window, signed out. If it still loads, that photo is on the public internet.
Verification is a ladder, and it is free
Five levels: Bronze confirms email and phone, Silver checks a government ID, Gold matches a live selfie against that ID, Platinum verifies employment or education documents, Diamond adds a family reference. Each adds a badge. You can stop at any level, and none of it costs anything.
The established platforms also verify, and several of them do it well. The difference is that verification is usually a paid add-on or bundled into a premium plan, and it is usually a single pass or fail rather than a visible ladder.
Family can help without reading your messages
You can invite family members. They get their own login, and they can see match suggestions and interest activity. They cannot open your inbox, read your messages, or see your video call history — this is enforced in the application, not by policy.
Most matrimonial platforms in India handle family involvement by having a relative create and operate the profile outright, which means they see everything. If that is what your family expects, this feature is not an advantage for you.
Video calls without exchanging numbers
Video dates happen inside the app, so neither person has to hand over a phone number or a social handle to have a first conversation.
Several competitors now offer something similar. It is no longer unique; it is simply table stakes we also meet.

The thirty-second check worth running on any matrimonial site
Open one of your own profile photos on whichever site you are using. Copy the image address. Paste it into a private browsing window where you are not signed in. If the photo loads, it is on the public internet — anyone with that link can see it, forward it, or save it, and so can a search engine. If you get an error or a sign-in page, it is protected.
We mention this because it is the check that made us rebuild how ShaadiPakki serves photos. Every photo on this site now goes through an authenticated route; none of them are reachable without a session.
Common questions
Is ShaadiPakki better than Shaadi.com?
For most people today, no — and we would rather say so than lose your trust. Shaadi.com has two decades of operation and a very large number of profiles. ShaadiPakki is new. What ShaadiPakki offers is a different set of privacy defaults: photos that are never public, verification that is free and visible as a five-level ladder, and family access that cannot reach your private messages. If those things matter more to you than the size of the pool, it is worth a look. If pool size matters more, use the larger platform.
Why should I use a new matrimonial site at all?
Usually you should not use only a new one. Creating a profile on ShaadiPakki is free and takes a few minutes, so it costs nothing to run it alongside an established platform. What you get from a smaller site early on is that every profile is recent and active rather than years stale, and that the people building it will actually read your email.
How do I check whether a matrimonial site keeps photos private?
Open one of your own profile photos, copy the image address, then paste it into a private or incognito browser window where you are not logged in. If the photo loads, it is publicly accessible to anyone with that link — including search engines and anyone the link is forwarded to. If you get an error or a login page, it is protected. This takes thirty seconds and it is the single most useful check you can run on any matrimonial site.
What does ShaadiPakki cost?
Nothing right now. Every feature is free during early access. Premium tiers are published on the home page so the future pricing is visible in advance, but none of them are on sale and no payment is required to register or to use any feature.
Is my data safe on a smaller platform?
Size is not the same as safety, in either direction. What you can check is specific: whether photos are public (see above), whether the privacy policy names the law it operates under, whether there is a published refund policy, and whether the site is served over HTTPS with its account pages excluded from search engines. ShaadiPakki's privacy policy sets out data handling under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and our refund terms are published at a fixed URL rather than decided case by case.
